4th Meeting 2009

This meeting took place on 18 March 2009 in Oxford and this successful meeting was the largest to date. The presentations at the meeting were video recorded and some of these can be found below.
We are pleased to present the order of the prize winners for the CMR Investigator’s Award at the 4th BSCMR meeting, held in Oxford, as follows:

  • 1st prize: Dr Daniel Stuckey (Oxford)
  • 2nd Prize: Dr Alistair Lindsay (Oxford)
  • 3rd Prize: Dr Paul Foley (Birmingham)
  • 4th Prize: Dr Chiara Bucciarelli-Ducci (London)

4th BSCMR meeting

Presentations at the meeting were video recorded and some of these can be found on our website.

Talks from the meeting:

Myocardial oxygenation assessed with BOLD imaging
– By Theo Karamitsos – Oxford University
Imaging of myocardial oedema
– By Colin Berry – Glasgow
Molecular imaging with CMR
– By Robin Choudhury – Oxford University
My approach to blood flow imaging
– By Andrew Taylor – Great Ormond Street Hospital
My approach to tumours.
– By Raad Mohiaddin – BSCMR 2009
My approach to perfusion
– By Mark Westwood – London Chest Hospital

Abstracts from the meeting:

  • Cardiovascular magnetic resonance for the assessment of cardiac inflammation following prolonged exercise
  • Late gadolinium enhancement as an independent predictor of atrial fibrillation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • Complications of aortic coarctation repair assessed using cardiovascular magnetic resonance
  • CMR tagging for measurements of the long axis function of the systemic right ventricular free wall
  • Acute invasive measures of microvascular function predicts early and longterm infarct size and left ventricular function revealed by magnetic resonance imaging in patients with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction
  • The cardiac magnetic resonance myocardial perfusion reserve index in assessment of internal mammary bypass grafts
  • Can the outcome of post partum cardiomyopathy be predicted using late gadolinium enhancement CMR?
  • The combination of low dose dobutamine and delayed enhancement CMR is more predictive of infarct zone and left ventricular functional recovery than either element alone
  • Low dose dobutamine adds incremental value to delayed enhancement cardiac MR in the prediction of adverse remodelling following acute myocardial infarction
  • Impact of myocardial iron loading on right ventricular function
  • Myocardial perfusion and viability after percutaneous recanalization of coronary chronic total occlusions: a cardiovascular magnetic resonance study
  • Diagnostic accuracy of half-contrast dose bSSFP vs full-contrast dose hEPI MR perfusion imaging in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease
  • Dyssynchrony assessment with tagged CMR: comparison with 3D echocardiography
  • Tagged CMR predicts haemodynamic response to left ventricular pacing
  • Comparison of extent of microvascular obstruction on high-resolution first-pass perfusion and early gadolinium enhancement CMR in patients with acute myocardial infarction
